Was initially pleased -- as we were finishing up the "tutorial" with Sunny (which I always play through to get the extra ammo) the girls stopped me, each in turn notifying me that she was thirsty, but had a drink on hand.

Never happened again. Nor did the hunger state ever appear at all.

With some of the recent prototype code I've gotten running on my personal companions, I'm pretty close to making that a reality.

One of the things that I'm still plotting on is how to determine when they need food and drink. As I mentioned the other day, I added about seventy lines of code to one of my personal companions' scripts, so that she'll harass me when bored. Why? Everything short of the brush gun was like spitballs on those damned robo-scorpions; and the brush gun didn't have the rate of fire to keep up with attacking heavily armored bots five and ten at a time.

Firstly, I've reworked the combat radii on some of the NCCS combat styles. The thought occurred to me after commenting back and forth with Darksong that I had switched the radii in my personal companions plugin to get rid of an issue similar to one he described; but had forgotten to switch all of the NCCS styles to match.

Putting together the sorting scripts this morning, and I forgot one crucial detail. That being in the companion reloading sorting script -- my personal plugin has three companion slots in its management system; NCCS has ten. The extra seven blocks of code put the script over the character limit.

Seventeen hairs, look fairly high quality. I haven't loaded them into the game yet, so am just going by the uploaded screenshot. Since updating to new video drivers that aren't older than the game itself, stability has improved -- but not by a fuck-ton. Updated drivers seem to have helped. When I started the PC up this morning, my desktop was still like it was supposed to be. Inside FNV, "stutter" is reduced considerably, though FPS on the whole haven't improved much. Visually indistinguishable from the old drivers, as far as teh prettehs go. Performance seems somewhat improved; but I haven't logged enough time to comment on crashes.

So, being unable to sleep, I decided to work a bit on the sorter scripting. Got the reloading sorter repaired, made a couple additions to the general sorter; and finally started on the survival sorter.

Therein lies our problem this morning.

It parsed fine, so I figured what was there to worry about? At the last second, I opted to save as a draft, and go actually test the scripts; rather than post only to have to issue a retraction. This turned out to be a good idea.

The trouble was, I was trying to run them via dialogue result scripts directly; and apparently the new and improved limit on those is shorter than it was in FO3, despite the GECK not kicking it back as being officially over-length.

Now, I'm not going to call him stupid, or start ranting; or anything like that. This is a legitimate issue, and one that I've run into myself from time to time.

The fix is usually simple: force the companion to re-load into the game world. The easiest way to do this is to just change cells. I'm fifteen hours and change in, and while the experience is improved; it is not perfect by any stretch. The memory leak is less prevalent, but absolutely still there. Crashes still occasionally happen on NPCs equipping new clothing/items (a pair of sunglasses, in this case). No quest-related issues thus far, at least.
