NCCS v0.8, Issue Solved

Sooo... I've been holding off on releasing v0.8 because of the aforementioned issue with a script that refused to run.

Fixed that this morning, finally.

  1. grats for the solution! sadly I've not had the time to play any FNV to test the version you made available to us, so I'll wait until you get this version ready for release. Sometime Real Life(tm) is more of a tome sink than games are

  2. I think this is one of the shortest posts I've ever seen here. Glad it's good news though!

  3. Hopefully this will resolve some issues with the companions getting lost or running and hiding during battles with straqnge factions issues. I have noticed if you have the Animal Friend Perk, for example and an animal is attacking some Wastelander, etc. The Companions run away ang get lost. Other than this odd behavior I am quite pleased with your work and that of Herculine, so much in fact I am considering offering you both a commission and position within my company and game development projects. I would also like to offer you both free web hosting for your work. Give it some thought, take it for a spin across the Wastes. :o)

  4. Why do I imagine this post being accompanied by a mix of cheering and cursing? :)

  5. I dunno, I think on NOs' end it was followed either with a lot of drinking, or going to bed to pass out. :P

  6. @DarkSong: That would be part two :)

I'll have you know, I had preemptively passed out, thank you very much. Yesterday was a long day, so when the modding drive let up this morning around 0500, I went the hell to bed.

As for the short post; the issue's resolution was a bit embarrassing for me personally as it involved some nasty oversights as well as the GECK not correctly reporting errors. Beyond that, it's full of technical minutiae that I've long since learned no one but me cares about.

    and @carywinton:

The issue I fixed this morning was a biproduct of the new sorters and containers in v0.8; it did not exist in v0.7 to cause any problems. I'm not familiar offhand with any issues surrounding the Animal Friend perk, but if you give me more info I'll look into it when I get the chance.

  8. dude, the combination of improper error reporting along with starting at that many lines of code - shit happens. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Just glad to hear you pummelled the bugses into submission.

Now back to catching up on this season's new anime in between migraine flareups.

  9. Yes, well; error reporting or not, I should've caught it when I was making the original alterations...

New anime? Hey, it's Sunday! Maybe HorribleSubs finally uploaded episode 38 of Beelzebub...

And there we see how I miss stu- OOH! SHINY! ...What was I saying?

  10. loldistractions. :P I'm watching 6 shows from the new season right now, still dealing with hell at work caused by corporate bigwigs making promises we have no chance in hell of keeping, and I STILL haven't rebuilt my computer. le sigh

On an FNV note, it's irritating to see mods you got from the nexus disappear, and no way to track down the authors to see if there are new version/fixes

I think it's worse to see the authors disappear; but flawed versions of the mods remain.

Stuff that sounds great in theory; that you really want to run... but the uploaded version has some fatal flaw and the author has either thrown in the towel or been run off; and no one can get fixes or even permission to fix and upload themselves.

  12. exactly. I've got at least a half-dozen dead-end mods like that I like. and the "run off" annoys me - my fave pervy material modder got banned for ripping into a commentor who really deserved it. Oh well, a couple of them I can fix myself I think, if I take the time to learn nifscope/blender, and to take a look over scripting.

First thing I need to do is to figure out how to copy pieces from other mods, and paste into a personal one I wouldn't upload anywhere, so I can discard mods I don't want the rest of.

That's why I keep an eye on mod databases, even when I'm not playing the relevant game(s). Get it while the gettin' is good and all that.

I've seen too many modders up and vanish over the years for reasons of varying degrees of stupidity on various parts.

Can't offer any help on the modeling bit. I can handle alphas, texture paths, and some glow-y-ness; but that's about the extent of my modeling skillz.

There are supposed to be some decent tutorials for Blender floating around the web, though.

  14. I am glad to hear you finally got the issue solved! I look forward to v0.8 finally being released :) Assuming, of course, it hasn't been already whilst I was away this weekend...
