Links Repaired

As everyone's favorite Neko mentioned to me this morning, I've been slacking again and didn't keep up the links here on the blog.

A while back as part of their plan of whatever the hell it is they're doing over there, the Nexus changed all their URLs; rendering old links and bookmarks invalid.

Most other old links (TES, FO3) still work; but for some reason none of the NVNexus links did.

I suppose this is one of the things I'd have known beforehand if I read those news blurbs.

I had completely forgotten about the NCCS link here on the blog, and it was apparently dead. So, reminded, I went through and updated the link (and tested it). Just to be safe, I updated all the FO3 links too -- they still worked for me, but who knows for how long.

All should be working again; but feel free to shoot me an email if anyone notices one that I missed.

Edited to add:

In updating the "must haves" list for FO3, I see that 20th Century Weapons is finally off the moderated list. It's now gone completely. So, I just went ahead and removed the link.

Things Learned During the Purge

So, I finally got around to purging the Picasa account tonight (you were warned).

Managed to free up around 300mb; which should keep me uploading for some time to come. Vast majority of the purges were either redundant (RR screenshots that are uploaded to the Nexus file entries as well) or were showing off mods that I ended up never releasing or never finishing.

So... you may notice some broken images now in old posts. I'm not going through more than six hundred and fifty posts one by one looking for them, though.

One thing I noticed though, looking through screenshots from 2009 was just how far my abilities as a companion maker have come. Those old works were just... embarrassing. Not only in setup, but in my visual settings, too. Yikes all around.

Also trashed the rose garden and waterfall photos because no one really cares about trip photos (even me who took them, apparently). They were just wasting space. Kept the ECSA photos because hey; who doesn't like to see cars set ablaze by 20mm incendiary fire?

Also kept the firearm and gunsmithing photos -- not because I think anyone online gives a shit about them; but because I give a shit about them, and wanted an online backup. Being as there's nothing illegal going on in them, I see no reason to set the folders to hidden or anything dramatic like that.

Anyhow, the cleaned space should allow for three hundred forty or so new screenshots at the current video settings I use in the games, and will probably still have free space left when you've all forgotten I exist.

On Screenshots

Also: I've been meaning to announce that my Picasa account is getting pretty full. It's occurred to me that I have a lot of useless shots and pictures that I uploaded but never did anything with, or that belong to mods that ended up getting trashed, or were taken in support of now forgotten arguments.

So, pretty soon I'm going to start purging the account of older shots; non-current versions of companions; defunct mods, and so on.

Can't promise what will be kept, so if there was anything in there you wanted for some incomprehensible reason, now would be a good time to save it. I'll probably begin cleaning it out in a week or so -- sooner if I happen to get transcendentally bored during the week.

Blog Changes

Recently, I offered Herculine posting-ability here on the Nos' Mods blog; for talking about her own Gamebryo mods, or even gaming junk in general. She declined, and noted that this was my blog and not hers.

This made me think. While I nominally intended this blog to be about my various modding efforts, and video games/gaming on a wider whole; I've nonetheless let it devolve into a personal blog, where I yammer about whatever.

Even if there's not going to be another poster around here, I still feel this is something I need to change. Keep modding stuff here, and personal crap and whining on my other blog; which had sat unposted-to since November.

Along those lines, I've started posting to my other blog; putting up four posts in the last couple days. From here on out, I intend to keep posting here limited more strictly to games and mods, or their related topics; and keep my boring personal stuff on the other one. Consequently, there will likely be a substantial drop in the number of posts made here; but when they are made, you'll have to wade through less whiny garbage to get to the mod details I know you all come here for.

The other one will be where my idle bitching, gun-related prattle, and general nonsense go.

Nos' Adventures will still appear here, of course; as it's tied directly to my modding and video games. Well, when I finally get around to finishing the next installment, anyway.

So... yeah. That is all.

Changes

You may currently be thinking you're on an acid trip.

If, like me, you don't drop acid, this would naturally be perplexing.

Allow me to assure you that you're not seeing things. I have actually opted to update my blogs with some of the new "designs" Blogger is offering. Hopefully things are a bit less dour and plain now.

Well... you're not seeing things in regards to this blog. That pink elephant doing the Charleston on your desk? Yeah, he's either really there or you need serious psychiatric help. Sorry to have to be the one to break it to you.

Update Complete

Well, there you go.

Posts on most of my mods thus far, with appropriate easy links added to the sidebar for your browsing convenience.

Now, I'm going to go do something that does not involve staring at an LCD.

First Post

So, first post on the new blog.

Why did I make this one, being as I barely update the other? While I may not always be in the mood to post about this week's stupidest politicians' tricks or the like, I wanted someplace to post updates and general information about my ongoing FO3 mods, without cluttering up the file entries on the Nexus with information many people may not care about.

What can you expect to see here? Screenshots, general information, release information, and notes on how my efforts are going. This is going to be more important soon, as since receiving Dimon99's gracious approval to use his meshes and textures, I've nearly topped out where my companions and guards mods can go, without delving into scripting.

The scripting engine in the GECK and I don't get along very well, so this next part could take awhile, and it will likely be some time between releases of new versions of the mods - barring of course bug fixes and minor feature changes and whatnot.

I plan to write up ongoing posts about the released files, and am in the process of uploading screenshots and supplementary pictures to a centralized location, where you can look over all the pics without having to delve through my files entry on Fallout3nexus.

I'll also, from time to time, post up info and links on the occasional must have mod I come across written by someone else. Don't expect too many of those, though, since I don't see must haves often.
