Windows to the Soul

In taking various other screenshots tod... er, yesterday now, I suppose, I decided to snag a few under (hopefully) better lighting conditions to better show off my girls' custom eyes in Skyrim.

After tfc-ing my way around and getting plenty of good looks at their eyes... I can't say as I'm inclined to re-do them. "Too small" or not; I think they turned out well, and aside from issues in the engine with NPCs going cross-eyed to look at you if you're too close to them, the maps seem to align correctly.

Aside from needing to get Maeva's glowing eyes worked out, I'm pretty happy with them.

Also: I desperately need to find a better (working) tint map for those lips...

Times like this I wish I had the freehand skill with a mouse to just make a set from scratch.

  1. I do not think that they are too small; if they get much bigger you're going to need to make the eye sockets bigger just to see them and they will start looking like anime eyes. There's nothing wrong with anime eyes if that's what one wants, but I'm guessing that's not the effect you're going for here.

    1. There is a place for anime eyes... it's called Oblivion.

Actually, I kind of dig the less stylized look that Skyrim has going. It's not as cartoony. Not to say that MBP and x117 et al couldn't turn out some hot NPCs... but I think I much prefer the more "realistic" (there's that damned R word again...) portrayal of humans and humanoids in Skyrim.

...Although Skyrim Argonians continue to be disconcerting as hell. Suppose that's to be expected from mutant iguana-people whose evolution was directed by sentient trees, though, eh?

  2. These images do show off the eyes very well, and I am inclined to agree with you that they turned out very well.

  3. Having re-read that last sentence of mine, I am reminded of the fact that my vocabulary tends to lack somewhat if I have not had enough caffeine...

    1. LOL

It's pretty much the same for me. I have to be awake at least an hour and have consumed at least one caffeinated beverage before I can articulate anything other than monosyllabic words.

    2. Eh, hell; I wasn't doing much better. One of these days I'm going to learn not to post past midnight.

    3. Sounds like you suffer from too much blood in your caffeine stream. :)
